Interlibrary Loan is part of Access & Delivery Services and is responsible for requesting materials from other libraries to be used short term by A-State students, faculty, and staff. We also send materials from our library to other libraries for their patrons to use.
Requests to borrow materials from other libraries are made through WorldShare ILL using your A-State email address as your username.
Your library account information has already been transferred to WorldShare. To begin, you must first reset your password.
If you have already reset your password, please use the following button to login to WorldShare ILL.
We will not process requests for textbooks that are
currently being used in classes on campus.
All varieties of library material can be requested, including books, abstracts, dissertations, videos, CDs, microfilms, and periodicals. All loans are subject to availability and the terms set by the lending institution. However, some items such as abstracts, dissertations, and videos are rarely circulated via interlibrary loans.
From Library Website or the Online Catalog
To request material, follow the instructions above to log into WorldShare ILL. Select the request form for the item you want to borrow (choose book, article, or other) and enter as much information as you can about the item. The staff at the Information Services Desk can assist in locating information on your request that you are unable to find. Be sure to include as much information about your requested material as possible.
From a FirstSearch Database
From the Library Databases page, choose one of the FirstSearch databases (look under vendor to determine which databases are offered by FirstSearch). Search for your requested material using the search tools. Once you have found the item you want, click on it and a split page will appear with several icons at the middle of the page and on the left side. Click on the ILL icon and fill out and submit the form that appears.
The information will be transferred to a review file where we can determine if A-State owns it or not and order it for you. If A-State owns it, the program should tell you before it sends it to the review file. You may check the online catalog from there also and determine if we do or do not own the item. If there is any problem with your request, you will be notified by email. Be sure to include an email address when filling out the form. We will notify you by email when the item/s arrive.
Requested materials can be picked up at the Circulation Desk after it arrives. You must have your ID to check out items. The average request for a book takes about 5-10 days. Articles usually take 3-5 days. If an article is sent electronically it will be sent to your A-State email account.
If a renewal is needed please contact the Interlibrary Loan office and we will request it from the lender. Online renewals are not valid.
ILL materials should be returned to the circulation desk. Please do not put in the drop box.
