Research for Everyone

As many of you know, A-State students, faculty, and staff have full access to all the resources in the A-State Library. But did you know that we have something for everyone, even if you're not affiliated with Arkansas State University?

If you go to school at another university in Arkansas but live in the Jonesboro area, you can request an ARKLink card from your university's library to borrow up to 10 books from our library. For more information, visit our ARKLink page: http://www.astate.edu/a/library/circulation/arklink/

Not a student? Don't worry, you can still request a Courtesy Borrower's Card at the Library Service Desk. This card will allow you to check out two items at a time as well as grant you access to our public computers. You can use these computers to access all our our ebooks, databases, and online journals (sorry, no printing from these computers). If you would like to apply for a Courtesy Borrower's Card, you will need to bring a photo ID and fill out a form at the service desk. Cards are then mailed to you to verify mailing addresses.

Finally, we have created two guides with tons of online resources that everyone can access online from home:

  • Free Online Databases - This guide contains free online databases divided into six subjects: K-12, Scholarly & Research, Health, Newspapers, Genealogy, and Digital Historic Archives. Some databases (marked with **) are provided by the State Library and do require you to be an Arkansas resident, but many databases have no access requirements.

  • Open Educational Resources - This guide contains introductory information to open access copyrights and Open Educational Resources (free online educational resources). In addition, the guide contains links to several open access resources including OERs, open courses, and open textbooks as well as information on creating your own OER and different free tools you can use.
