Interlibrary Loan

In the interest of safety, we are encouraging patrons
to only request physical items that are absolutely needed for their research.
When possible, please consider requesting a digital copy of a chapter instead of an entire book. This will help create a safer and quicker hands-free transaction.

Due to financial and safety concerns, the Library will not borrow physical copies of books that are available as eBooks.

Interlibrary Loan is part of Access & Delivery Services and is responsible for requesting materials from other libraries to be used short term by A-State students, current and emeritus faculty, and staff. We also send materials from our library to other libraries for their patrons to use.

Requests to borrow materials from other libraries are made through WorldShare ILL using your A-State email address as your username.

Frequently Asked Questions

We will not process requests for currently used textbooks.

All varieties of library material can be requested, including books, abstracts, dissertations, videos, CDs, microfilms, and periodicals. All loans are subject to availability and the terms set by the lending institution. However, some items such as abstracts, dissertations, and videos are rarely circulated via interlibrary loans.

We can only request digital items from other institutions for our online students.

Due to financial concerns, the Library is unable to fulfill requests for physical copies of books that are available as eBooks.

To request material, follow the instructions above to log into Worldshare ILL. Select "Create Request" and then the type of item you want to borrow (choose Copy, Document Delivery, or Loan) and as much information as you can about the item. The staff at the Service Desk can assist in locating information on your request you are unable to find.

The information will be transferred to a review file where we can determine if A-State owns it or not and order it for you. All communication from the ILL/DD departments, including notifying you of arrival, will be conducted via your A-State e-mail account. Therefore, please include your A-State email address when completing the form.

Requested materials can be picked up at the Library Service Desk after it arrives or can be delivered to an A-State Jonesboro campus office by contacting You must have your A-State ID to check out items.The average request for physical items is around 5-10 days. Articles, book chapters, and other copies usually take 1-3 days and are sent electronically to your A-State email account.

If a renewal is needed please contact Tia Farmer at and she will request it from the lender. Once the renewal has been approved or denied, you will be notified via your A-State email account.

ILL materials should be returned to the Library service desk. Please do not put in the drop box.
