Library Instruction Requests

Having a class librarian can have a meaningful impact on your students' educational experience. We offer a variety of instructional services***:

  • Librarian visits to your classroom -- We regularly speak to classes all across campus about library resources and services. We can tailor our presentation to fit your specific needs, whether it's a basic introduction to the library for first-year students to a more research-oriented presentation for upper-level or graduate students.

  • Library tours -- Bring your students to the library for a tour and/or instruction session. Note: We are not equipped with computers in our library instruction room.

  • Embedded Librarian -- In conjunction with a class visit or as a standalone service, we can embed as a class librarian in your BlackBoard course and serve as the main point of contact for library and research support.

  • Custom video tutorials and research guides -- We can create a custom research guide with relevant sources for your course or even a tutorial video on a specific database or topic for your class.

  • LIR 1011/1021: Introduction to Academic Research -- Each semester we offer several sections of our very popular, 1-credit hour course, Introduction to Academic Research. Face-to-face and online sections are available during either the first or second session of each semester. Students can search the course catalog for the subject "library" to find available sections.

If these services interest you, please don't hesitate to contact us directly or use our library instruction request form.

***For any of our instructional services, please contact us at least two weeks before you need the service. For embedded librarian requests, please contact us at least two weeks before your class begins.
