Basic Search
You will automatically start off in Basic Search. You can simply type in your search terms and hit enter. However, CINAHL does NOT assume an "AND" between your terms. If you type in several search terms, you may or may not find what you are looking for. For help on narrowing your searches, check out our short section on Boolean Searching on the Search Tips page.
Search Options and Limits
Basic Search has several search options for you to choose from. For the most part, you won't have to change many of the options because you can also make a number of these changes on the results page.

Hover your mouse over the 'i' next to the option and a box will pop up telling you what that option does.
