"There's lots of way you can tell if something might be misinformation," you confidently explain to the guards. "For example, who is the 'they' this sign is talking about?"

"The Lizard People!" guard one replies.

"No, no, no, it's the mages!" a second guard argues.

The head guard sighs, "Don't be stupid you two. It's the Wererabbits!" The guards begin to argue.

"Whoa!" you get their attention. "See? This is why the sign is vague and doesn't tell us who 'they' are. Misinformation relies on our biases to get us worked up. Whoever we have a negative perception of, that's who we think 'they' is and it invokes a strong emotion, making us more likely to believe it and share it."

The guards look sheepishly at each other. One of the guards ask, "So anytime we see the word 'they,' we should assume it's fake."

"No, that's just one clue. Not all misinformation is the same and very rarely is just one clue enough to 100% say something is fake."

"What are some other clues."
